Xiaomi on Tuesday announced it would be holding it first MIUI Partnership Day in India next month, with the aim to work with developers in the country to further localise the user experience of its mobile operating system. The event will be held on November 7, in Gurugram, Haryana.
In an emailed statement announcing the MIUI Partnership Day, Xiaomi called the move a “significant step up in its commitment to the local market.” As per the company, the event will enable developers to gain and share knowledge about MIUI, apart from finding common ground to collaborate with others.
The MIUI Partnership Day will be held from 2pm IST to 6pm IST at The Leela Ambience in Gurugram. Developers interested in attending should register themselves on the company’s dedicated page for the event.
Xiaomi says the MIUI Partnership Day will cover topics about Xiaomi’s Internet services strategy, from products and services, monetisation, to the entire MIUI ecosystem and investments. In its statement, the company adds that it has been working to customise MIUI for Indian users ever since it launched its products in the country three years ago. It has set up an R&D team in the country to that end, and unveiled such localized features as Copy OTP, Dual Apps, Second Space, Smart IRCTC Ticket SMS, and more. MIUI now also supports 13 Indic languages.
The company shared that its MIUI mobile operating system now has over 280 million users across 142 countries and regions. Xiaomi currently sells fitness bands, air purifiers, routers, mobile accessories, and mobile phones in India. It has yet to launch its popular set-top box and TV range in the country, as well as a range of smart home products from its Mi Ecosystem brand.
