A malfunction of a new terminal operating system at the Kingston Freeport Terminal is now frustrating efforts to clear a backlog of containers that resulted from two days of protest by truckers.

The Port Trailer Haulage Association decided yesterday to call off the protest over delays in clearing containers from the terminal after a meeting with the management of Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL).

However, general manager of the Association Ricardo Valentine says since the resumption of operations at KFTL about 1:30 yesterday afternoon,  only a small number of containers have been cleared due to the malfunctioning software.

He says the line of trucks is still stretched to Marcus Garvey Drive.
